Application to Pickens Technical College is 100% free and 100% online. We accept applications all year. Submitting an application does not mean you are enrolled in a program. To secure your seat in a program, please follow the enrollment process below.
Post-Secondary Enrollment
Each Fall, all programs enroll new cohorts of students. Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, and Practical Nursing have additional Spring enrollment. Start dates align with the Aurora Public School calendar. If applicants would like to revise their application, they should contact registration at pickensregistration@aurorak12.org.

2: Complete Online application
When applying, save your username. If you have applied to Pickens before, please contact the registration process to regain access to your account. Once you have applied, you will begin to receive emails guiding you through the enrollment process.

3: Take Entrance Exam
Skip this step if applying to a program other than those listed here: Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetician, Nail Technician, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Master Automotive Service Technician. If your program is listed above, step 3 is required in order to be eligible for enrollment. Complete one of the following options:
- (1) Schedule a short in person reading comprehension assessment
- (2) Submit alternate documentation that showcases proof of required reading level to pickensregistration@aurorak12.org. Accepted documents include:
- Proof of a U.S. college degree
- Evidence of a C or better in a college-level class
- SAT/PSAT: Minimum score of 390 in Reading/Writing
- CMAS English Language Arts (ELA) Grade 08: Score of 750 / Or Subscale: 150
- iREADY Reading Grade 08: Met Expectations
- Accuplacer Reading Score of 237 or higher
- Submitting proof of high school diploma does not meet the required criteri

Eligible Status
4: Complete Registration Form
Follow the registration link sent to your email, and complete the registration form. Based on program availability, you will either be:
- (1) Enrolled in a calls for the next available start date
- (2) Added to the waitlist list if the program is currently full. You will be notified when we begin slotting students for class, and/or as lots are made available.
New Slots Open on:
- November 11, 2026 (Select programs only – Dental Assisting, Cosmetology, and Practical Nursing)
- January 5, 2027 (All Programs)

5: Confirm enrollment
You will receive an update once you confirm your slot in the upcoming semester. A $100 acceptance fee is required at this time. Pay the required acceptance fee within one week of notification. Applicants who fail to make payment will forfeit their spot in the program.
- To make payment: Applicants can either call the cashier’s office or come to campus to make in-person payment.

- August 5, 2027 (All Programs)

High School Enrollment
Each Fall, all programs enroll new cohorts of students. Start dates align with the Aurora Public School calendar (available on the APS website). Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, and have additional Spring enrollment. All students in the APS district are welcome to apply for concurrent enrollment at Pickens Technical College.
