Barber Program in Aurora, CO

The Barber vocational training program at Pickens Technical College in Aurora includes both classroom instruction, as well as hands-on training on mannequins and patrons in a full-service salon.
The Barber program training includes classes in:
- Intermediate and advanced barber techniques
- Hair cutting
- Hair styling
- Hair coloring
- Shaving and skin care
- Permanent waves and chemical relaxers
- Sanitation and safety
- Preparation for Colorado State Licensing Exam
As an extra elective, students may have the opportunity to participate in an internship at a barbershop, salon or spa during their advanced training.

Instructor Odie B. McClendon
Odie B. McClendon Jr. is an Instructor who works with students to help them become Barber professionals.
Odie has taught at Pickens since 1997. He came to Pickens to start a Barber Program.
Odie has received awards as Black Educator of the year from the Black Educators Association. He has also been Educator of the Year for SkillsUSA.
Odie has worked inthe industry for since 1968. During that time Odie did a tour in Viet Nam and then returned back home in May of 1970 to resume his career.
Odie is licensed in Barbering and Cosmetology.
