What Skills Do General Electronics Students Gain Through PTC’s Program?
If you’re at all interested in electronics and their function, you know that the technology field is an incredibly broad one with many applications and job opportunities for those willing to put in the work and develop a strong knowledge base of foundational learning. The good news is, that’s exactly what PTC’s General Electronics program offers.
The General Electronics Technician courses are taught over two semesters and consist of electronic theory, laboratory experiments, applied mathematics, and practical applications which prepare students to work with solid-state and digital systems.

In a perfect world, we would never have to deal with malfunctioning electronic equipment. Unfortunately, most of us experience something along these lines almost every day. One of the main jobs of an electronics technician is to diagnose the problem, measure any possible damage with the appropriate instruments, and then, if possible, fix it.
Upon completion of the program, our graduates leave with a wide variety of applicable skills, and an even broader career outlook. Students have the option to seek employment as a Maintenance Technician, Electrical Equipment Technician, Electronic Test Technician, not to mention many other lucrative, challenging, and engaging jobs.
Alternatively, students may also continue their education at a four-year university.
Not only do students receive technical knowledge and hands-on training, but life skills that will benefit them in and out of the classroom. In the real world, critical thinking, problem-solving and a strong work ethic are invaluable, which is why we believe that theoretical know-how needs to work alongside practical applications and real-life scenarios.
When students eventually find employment as a technician, they will need to be forward-thinking, taking into account future changes and upgrades to a system’s operating conditions and how to quickly pivot techniques.
